Happy 2011

New year began on a happy note. On the fourth day of the year , got placed in TCS. Extremely happy after this, never thought I’ll get placed. I still can’t believe I read about transistors , capacitors and resistors for four years . I’d also like to thank kumar_chelsealegend who has taken the trouble to follow my blog. This takes the number of followers to 10 (Breaking in to double digit finally).I’ve run out of ideas to write . I made 2 drafts , tried writing fiction , it dint work fine. I went to Mantralaya also. Initially it was planned as a family trip . Then many things happened. Friends of friends, acquaintances of acquaintances and some unknown people got together and at the end 40 of us travelled to Mantralaya . We hired a bus and all , it was pretty nice.

In the bus there were 3 girls , 2 twins and the 3rd ( the elder sister). For the first time in my life I got to know that twins can be non identical. The two of them had accepted this fact right from the time they were manufactured, they never seemed surprised when asked why they were twins and why they dint look alike. I suppose from 2 decades they were asked the same question over and over again. One of them was doing engineering at east west institute of technology . East- West is a pretty lousy name , what were the founders of the college smoking when they decided to name this college? East point , North point sounds pretty good but ‘east west’ is too tacky a name . Well , the girl was as cute as a panda . The other twin was doing BBM in some other college .The elder one was preparing for her CA exams . She looked as boring and disinterested as Munaf Patel .One joke about CA's that i remember is in the Indian institue of charted accountants there was a statue of Christ below which it was written ' Jesus never fails ' , one of the students said 'Let him pass CA and prove himsellf right'. BBM asked me what I was doing and I replied that I got placed in TCS and she was like ‘ Oh, teeeee ceee esssss is it?’ as if her catty , doggy and watchman had all got placed in the same company.. She asked me what next, what plans for the future ?. When you tell people that you are from PESIT they expect you to be the next Steve Jobs .I dint know what to reply , “I thought I’ll say I’m going to be research scholar under someone in IISc “ OR “ I’m going to start my own firm “ OR I’m running off to Europe , I’ll swim in one of those lakes embedded in the womb of some forest , read a book , sip coffee under those huge architectural marvels , go and work in one of those cheese factories , bake cakes , make mango pickle and guava jelly “ Talking about Steve jobs , for those of you who attend tech quizzes I can offer help . If there’s a question like ‘ Mr X co-founded this company . after many years he left it and then started Y which happens to be a fortune 50 company’ ………….. At least in one of those questions Mr X will be Steve Jobs .

Panda ( the engineering girl )was always cuddling some 2 year old kid . Whenever the 3 sisters got bored doing nothing they started playing antakshari . The first song would always be ‘Sheila ki jawani’ for some unknown reason and then it was like some old jukebox playing some random songs . Panda would get hyper and wild all of a sudden . She was like those girls who go crazy when Salman Khan removes his shirt . Munaf Patel would retire soon , BBM and Panda sang until they got bored and would start cuddling that 2 year kid again .Panda asked what my hobbies were . I said I watched ‘ I watch Arnab Goswami’s show without fail everyday ‘ and she said ‘ Oh! That guy who combs his hair like a good boy , shouts down people’s throat and gets hysterical . These TV guys get paid for all this chitter –chatter “ and she gave this stupid smile. I’ve got only one thing to say - When you don’t understand the kind of work a person does , his stature and background you’ve got absolutely no right to comment about him . I just prevented myself from saying this and reacted with another stupid smile. Ah! These girls were like old gramophone records , smart and unique but difficult to handle

Mantralaya was good ! We reached there at around 5 am in the morning . it looked like as if the famous fog of Delhi had just descended over there. Came back to Bangalore after 2 days . I’ve decided to join a gym , happy new year to one and all!!
